Inevitable Ending > Banana Boy
Today, my friend had to give up something that he really wanted. It is unfortunate that it has to happen but he believe it needs to be done. She needs it more than he does, according to him. He did it because of self preservation. "Hah!", he said. "That's funny. She said the same thing." She wanted nothing of it all due to self preservation and he went along with it.
What a fool.
He didn't really give up. He just thought that its futile knowing that she is not yet ready. Not ready because she is not ready, but she won't get ready. A wounded girl. Bloody and soak with the river of her tears. Not healed because she doesn't want to get healed. She just won't.
Damn evil ex-boyfriends. What have they done?
We flashback on a coffee session. A series of grueling conversation started it all. He sent her a message and she replied. Guy didn't like it. So he had to make contact and talk about things and probably put closure to it? We'll never know.
They sat down on a table with four lonely chairs. Surrounded by people who can't care. Too goddamn busy mindin' their own lives. Two of the chairs disappeared.
A single question, "What's your point?", he asks.
"What do you mean what's my point?” the girl.
"I want to understand what your point is. Are you saying sorry because you are not worth it?"
"It's not that. I just don't believe on those things anymore"
"What things?” pretending he doesn't know but deep inside he feels the ending.
"Those things, I don’t believe in them anymore because eventually people leave”
"Where are you getting this point of view? Are you too hurt to start over again?"
Silence was her retort.
"I won't accept that. You can't tell me to stop knowing that your reason don't make sense at all."
"What's more to know? I don't believe in them anymore. Been there, done that. I am just too tired of expecting and eventually get shut down when everything is almost perfect" she takes out a cigarette and lights it. Silhouette of smoke beams in front of them.
It was his turn for silence.
"Just stop. I don't need to be saved."
"Then stop being a goddamn damsel in distress! Why do you always have to push people away? You are telling me that you are depressed, but it's your own fault. Why can't you move on?"
"I don't want to move on."
Then that made it all clear. That wrap the whole conversation. It didn't finish there but that was the handshake that made the deal.
According to him, it ended well. He understood the whole situation and felt that pushing forward won't be the best in her situation. He no longer pushed the romance angle, but instead offered the shoulder of friendship. Why? Self-preservation. He wanted to preserve what little sanity he have by making justification of how sorry he felt for himself. He cried and I believe he's still crying. River of tears and regrets.
But ponder this, what would you do in this situation?
How do you help someone who doesn't want to get help?
How do you move a person who won't move? Heal a person who wants to be in pain?
For him, he did what he thought was best. Attack the situation in another way.
Be a friend.
Admire him.
